This talk takes a detailed look at both a "Mastery" and an "Exposure" approach to the study of languages and presents a discussion of when each might be the best choice for a family. Also discussed: how to begin the study of languages and progress in a way that is natural and works for the entire family, choosing languages and resources, and letting go of idealism in order to gain the benefits of exposure to language no matter the abilities or capacities of each child.
